Hello!

Welcome to Distribution Lab

Let’s jump right into it

SEO Changed

In issue #3, I mentioned that I had taken some SEO courses in the past and that I was going to spend some time and effort on it, so let’s talk about it

It’s no secret to anyone that SEO has changed due to AI

Here’s what to learn about SEO now

The old way

Before AI and ChatGPT, if you wanted to show up on Google and rank on the first positions you needed to do a mix of the following:

  • Research what people is looking up on Google (keyword search)

  • Write a long blog post that talked about the topic chosen (content creation)

  • Submit your article to Google’s search engine (indexing)

  • Optimize your website to be fast, secure, and mobile-friendly (technical SEO)

  • Get other people to link to your site or article from their site (backlinks)

After all of this, you might have a slight chance of ranking in the first positions in Google

Back then this looked impossible

Now, let’s see what changed

The new way

Now, in order for you to rank on Google, you still need to do SEO but also AEO

AEO stands for Answer Engine Optimization

This is about setting up your website so AI bot can use your content to generate answers or recommendations

In essence, content marketing got more complex…

Here’s what actually changed

AI not only considers your website to cite you in its responses

It also considers your overall presence online: mentions in Reddit, X, YouTube, LinkedIn, media publishers, other websites, etc

The more you get mentioned in other places, the more AI will think you’re an authority in your industry or niche, the more likely it will cite you in AI responses

Will be going through the Ahrefs’ course on AEO to learn more, and more importantly, how to take action with Ahrefs data

So, our task is to play the long-term, and create a solid brand online that delivers value through content, create partnerships, and become a reference among our audience

Let’s go!

Also, In my last issue, I shared the SEO challenge from Tibo but I didn’t join. I figured it’s better to build my SEO myself while I’m starting to learn the ins and outs before bringing in other tactics

LinkedIn Bootcamp

Last week I joined Diandra Escobar’s LinkedIn bootcamp

A 4-week cohort-based program inside Skool with weekly live calls where we are learning how the algorithm works, how to optimize your profile as a landing page, and how to create content that attract clients

Two weeks in and the course already paid its value

Will share more about this in a future issue

Personal News

I’ll be sharing another (exciting and important!) news soon but need to wait until it becomes a reality

Thanks for reading, until next one! 👋
